Tutorial 12

Change app appearance.

Select System / Auto, Light, or Dark appearance for the native app.

What you will learn

How to open Preferences, change appearance, and understand the persistent appearance setting.

Prerequisites

Open the native app. No project or solve is required.

Steps

  1. Choose Edit > Preferences..., or press Ctrl+,.
  2. In the Preferences dialog, locate the Appearance selector.
  3. Choose System / Auto, Light, or Dark.
  4. Optionally adjust Reopen the latest project when the app launches and Open the Results tab automatically after solve.
  5. Click OK. The app applies the selected theme and saves the setting.

Expected result

The app updates its palette and style. System / Auto follows the macOS color scheme; Light and Dark force the selected appearance.

Common notes

  • Appearance is stored in app settings and persists across launches.
  • Use Presentation inside Flowfield Studio when you need a cleaner capture layout; it is separate from global appearance.
