Tutorial 06

Read the solve summary and warnings.

Decide whether a result is useful for comparison, export, or validation planning before presenting it.

What you will learn

How to read Review > Solve summary, coupled-solver convergence, Flowfield residual/convergence status, stagnation warnings, mass-balance checks, and stale-result indicators.

Prerequisites

Run either a core engine solve, a coupled steady-state solve, or a Flowfield Studio solve.

Steps

  1. After a core solve, open Review > Solve summary. Confirm whether the result is Solved - first-pass, Coupled solve converged, or a non-converged coupled result with the first-pass result shown.
  2. Review Thermochemistry, Injector, Thermal, and Stability sections for warnings. These same warnings are included in PDF reports.
  3. For Flowfield Studio, open the lower Verification tab. Read result state, convergence classification, stop reason, mass-balance diagnostics, and mesh quality status.
  4. Open Analysis > Plots to inspect Euler Residual History, Centerline Profiles, Wall Pressure, and Area-Averaged Axial Profile.
  5. Open Analysis > Tables to review mass diagnostics, field ranges, and mesh quality. Open Analysis > Provenance to confirm backend, mode, and model details.
  6. If residuals stall, use Show Advanced Solver Controls carefully. Stagnation policy can stop early, warn and continue, or be disabled; it does not make a plateaued solve converged.
  7. If the UI shows STALE or an export button adds (stale), re-solve before using the result unless you intentionally export a stale result with the warning embedded.

Expected result

You can state whether the result converged, was iteration-limited, stalled, diverged, failed a mass-balance check, or is stale. That status should travel with screenshots, reports, DXF geometry, and review notes.

Common notes

  • A clean warning panel does not validate a design; it only means the implemented checks did not flag a condition.
  • Flowfield residual/convergence status supports preliminary visualization and validation planning. It is not a certification of CFD fidelity.
  • Boundary reflection and density-gradient warnings in transient playback usually mean the domain, time horizon, or interpretation needs review.
