Tutorial 01

Create a new engine case.

Start from a clean project record so metadata, units, design inputs, solves, and exports stay traceable.

What you will learn

How to start a new project, record program metadata, set persistent engineering units, and save the case before entering engine targets.

Prerequisites

Open the native macOS Engine Workbench dev build. No solved case is required.

Steps

  1. Click the toolbar New button, or choose File > New Project. The status area changes to Unsolved.
  2. Open the Define tab and select Program in the left Sections list.
  3. In Project metadata, enter Project name and Customer.
  4. In Program notes, record the mission point, assumptions, open questions, and review context.
  5. Choose Tools > Engineering Settings... if you need to change Engineering units between US Customary and SI. Units apply to engineering inputs, results, trade studies, and exported reports.
  6. Click Save, or choose File > Save Project. Use Save As or File > Save Project As... when creating a named copy.

Expected result

The Home tab shows the active project identity in Current case, the solve state remains Unsolved, and the project file is ready for propellant and chamber target inputs.

Common notes

  • Changing units after values are entered refreshes the visible engineering-unit fields; verify key pressures, dimensions, and thrust targets before solving.
  • New starts a fresh case. Use Load or File > Load Project... to reopen an existing project.
